Q: I’m looking for romantic things to do in Washington DC. Is a private cruise on one of your boats really a romantic option?

A: Yes! Just ask any of the couples who got engaged on our boats. Not looking for that much romance? That’s fine. You can just sit together in the bow and share a bottle of champagne as we idle by DC’s beautiful sights.

Q: I’m looking for romantic things to do in DC at night. Do you run sunset or night-time cruises?

A: Again, yes! Not only is the city beautiful at night, but it’s also more romantic. And, luckily, the sun sets on the monuments, making it an even more impressive evening.

Q: But, how is it romantic when there’s a captain with us?

Enjoying a date on a boat

A: OK… of course, there’s a limit to the level of romance that’s acceptable, but here’s a couple different experiences. On our open single-level boats, cruises typically include some level of tour narrative. But if you’re looking for a quiet time with your partner, just let us know in advance. The captain will keep conversation to a bare minimum. You two can cuddle in the bow and just enjoy the scenery together.

Q: Do you offer boats with even more privacy?

A: Yes! If really want to be alone, you can contact us directly regarding a date cruise on our larger vessels. The multi-level arrangement means the captain is on the bridge deck, and you can have the salon level to yourselves, with the same views from indoors or out. (Note: Larger vessels can’t be reserved online, and require addition lead time. Example here. Contact us for details.)

Q: Sunsets… romantic sunsets. Do you have them?

A: Yes! Well, assuming Mother Nature cooperates. She usually does. We can cruise through sunset, or drop the anchor and just float. And, on the larger yachts, you can enjoy the bow loungers in private all the way through the very last rays.

Q: What about dinner dates?

A: Sure. We can certainly arrange delicious meals aboard. We can also take you to and/or from one of the many romantic waterfront restaurants our beautiful city has on offer. Let us know if you need recommendations.

Q: Can I propose to my future husband/wife on your boats?

Champagne+on+the+bow

A: They all say, “Yes!” We’ve already had over 40 marriage proposals on our boats with a 100% “yes” rate!

Q: What if I want photos of my proposal or date?

A: We have a couple options. A) Your captain can be in on the plan and sneak some iPhone footage, though quality can’t be guaranteed. B) You can reenact the marriage proposal after you do it, and we’ll shoot it more carefully until you’re happy with the pictures. C) We can bring along a professional photographer posing as crew. On our larger yachts, they can be hiding in a bedroom until you’re ready for your photos. D) We can bring a second boat along with a dedicated photographer. (Needless to say, options C–D require significant planning and additional expenses.)

Q: Can the captain marry us?

A: This isn’t The Love Boat! But, if you’re serious, and it’s a very small wedding (or elopement), we can work something amazing out.

Q: This marriage talk is too soon. What about first dates?

A: Actually, a boat cruise is perfect for a first date. Very impressive way to start, yes, but more importantly… no awkward silences. Something new is always around the corner to talk about and the captain can fill in any remaining moments where it seems like there’s nothing left to say. Makes for a very low-pressure first date—no need to talk about your job, how many children you want, or your previous relationships!
